Cannot Connect To Some Websites
For the past 2 weeks, I’ve been experiencing a problem in accessing websites using the firefox browser. It happened to me for the first time. I’ve never experienced this kind of problem before so it took me sometime to finally fix the problem.
I first noticed the problem when I tried to open google and then typed in yahoo on the google search bar. A bunch of links opened on the next page. I clicked the link that said “Sign In To Yahoo” and an error page came up.

I tried to click the yahoo.com link beside “Try reloading” a few times but same error messages came up. I went to the browser and typed yahoo.com but still the same.
I went back to the google search bar and typed in “youtube” and this is what I got

I was thinking maybe firefox browser was having a problem so I decided to use Internet Explorer. I thought my problem would be solved but unfortunately it wasn’t. Still it gave me an error page in internet explorer.
I Thought maybe, I should delete the cookies. So what I did was click the tools on the firefox browser, then clicked Clear recent history, a small window popped up then click “Clear All” or “Clear Now” to erase the cookies.
I also thought of deleting the “Temporary Files” so I clicked Start | Run | on the run pop up window, I typed “temp”. All the temporary files accumulated every time I visit a certain website were generated on the temporary files window. I clicked edit and clicked select all to highlight all the files I needed to delete. I closed firefox then opened it again. This time I was able to sign in to yahoo and accessed my emails. I was also able to connect to some websites. After a while, the connection problem came back. The only difference is that there were some websites that I can access without any problem and there were some websites that I couldn’t access at all.
Trying to figure out on how to fix this problem took most of my precious time. I did a lot of researching on different websites for any solution. I followed few suggestions but nothing helped me fix the problem. I know there are a lot of helpful suggestions out there but I wasn’t too lucky to bumped on them on my searches.
I checked on my anti-virus settings and ran a few trouble shooting procedures. Well, still unsuccessful. I thought of disabling my firewall via the control panel. I am using windows XP so this is what I did.
Firewall Configuration On Windows XP
- I clicked Start
- Clicked Control Panel
- Clicked Security Center
- Clicked Windows Firewall
- Clicked Off(not recommended button)
- Click Ok.
If your browser (Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer) is open, close it. Then open it again.
Try connecting to the websites that you were having trouble connecting in your previous attempts.
You should be able to connect to any websites without seeing those horrible error pages again.
This procedure fixed my problem. I know this will help you too.
Warning! Please bear in mind that your virus protection is currently turned off and your computer is susceptible to any viruses that may harm your computer by visiting such suspicious websites. So it is recommended that you have to connect to websites with extra caution.
WAIT!, we are not done yet. We still have to tackle one more very important step in this process.

Thank you for sharing this. I've been having this kind of problem too. There were some websites that I cannot open and there were others that I can open. I went nuts. I knew I can find the fix somewhere. You are right. Turning off the firewall for a couple of minutes and turning it on again really works. I've done that and my problem was fixed. Thank you.
